Holding on to top 10 (season 23 review)

Written by Red Star at 01:35 21/3-2013

Red star ended season 23 at 9th place in the world, with 2850 points. It doesn’t fully match the success of last season, but defiantly has it highlights.

Team Manager Petter was asked give his tough about this season highlights:

“Looking back, I must say that it has been a good season. However, same is somewhat overshadowed by last year performance where we finished 5th in the world. The main highlight was definitely Rytis winning the sprinting classic Norwich- London, followed by Swin’s win the GT prologue, allowing him to wear the leader jersey for 2 stages. The team was also happy to find TTer Sven Orsted, who we believe will form a freighting TT pair alongside Swin.

The team had 8 riders racing in points. Rytis solidified his position for the hall of fame with 12 top 9 of which 3 where wins. His main LO Dino also got a top 9 when he captained the team in a one day race. Wayne have been flying the hill stages, and Beetens rapped up a hill podium as well at the end of the season. Our TT’er Ernesto, Jan and Theun all racked in several results. Ivan got a result in Germany, though he couldn’t mach last year good performance.

On next season goal, our manager is still keeping his hand close to his chest, but we got the following comments:

“last year we wanted 10 riders scoring points, but only got 8, so next year we want 10 again! The search for a new sprinting talent is still going on, failing to find any decent talent in season 22. We will find someone during season 24! Last season we had 3 national team jersey in the team, while as per end this season we have none. We definitely want some national jerseys to satisfy our sponsors. ”

It is also reported from our headquarter that by Team Manager Petter is moving back to Norway from Singapore after 10 seasons in the tropics. The board of directors feels that his move will bring him closer to the team and hopefully bringing in more talented youngsters from Scandinavia according to the targets established by the board..

@sprintingkings, thanks and good luck to you as well

@finz - Don't get how Alexandr and Korney don't have points. Why don't you let them captain once in a while, will improve your team spirit significantly.
